Silva Terra – A step towards a brighter and more sustainable future

Silva’s new headlamp Terra Scout has already been put to the test and has been the winner of the ISPO Award and the Scandinavian Outdoor Sustainability Award earlier this year. At September 8th the Terra Scout will be launched together with Terra Dry Bags as the first products of the Terra initiative.

Terra means earth, and products labelled Silva Terra have lower environmental footprint. Terra is a step towards a brighter and more sustainable future. Smart innovations together with the well-known and successful concept of “reuse, reduce, recycle” are part of Silva’s strategy going forward.

Silva Terra is our promise but also our contribution to the future. We are now implementing Terra as an overall strategy in all our product categories and in our entire value chain. Our products are in the hardware and electronics categories where there is still much to do in terms of sustainability. We are proud to present a headlamp with innovative materials that contribute to reduced CO2 emissions, yet humble of the long journey we have ahead of us. Step by step, product by product, says Madelene Jonsson Öhlin, Head of Sales and Marketing at Silva.

TERRA SCOUT – WINNER OF ISPO AWARD & SCANDINAVIAN OUTDOOR SUSTAINABILITY AWARD

Terra Scout is made of recycled plastics and Revo material produced by the Swedish company Trifilon. The Revo material consists of recycled polymers mixed with plant fibres from hemp and has up to 90% lower CO2 emissions compared to standard plastics. The Revo material has not been coloured, which means that each Terra Scout headlamp has an unique look.

The Swedish outdoor brand Silva presented the first liquid-filled compass in 1933, and already in 1935, the first headlamp – the Zeiler – was introduced. Ever since, Silva has continued to develop outdoor products for both world athletes and everyday adventurers. The new Terra Scout headlamp is already a winner and received the ISPO Award 2022 and the best sustainable product for Fall Winter 2022 by The Scandinavian Outdoor Awards.

The ISPO Award Jury says:

“There are many, but hardly any headlamp that is as uncompromisingly designed for sustainability as Silva’s Terra Scout. The plastics that are used are recycled and on top of that the lamp is extremely light.” says Andi Spies, Member of the ISPO Award Jury and Editor at Large ISPO.com

Emelie Forsberg, who aims for more sky running podiums after having spent some time off from elite running due to maternity leave, is a long term Silva ambassador. These athletes and everyday adventures are important for Silva’s current and future product development. Emelie uses Silva products when training but also when spending time in her garden in between running sessions:

I´m so happy to be an ambassador for Silva, and I have been working with them for a couple of years already. It feels like we share the same background coming from the north! I love the fit, the weight and the light. I really like the Trail Runner Free for running, and also the new Terra headlamp as it´s a great result of a brand making more sustainable products. I use it for easier trails, when I go walks with my dog, and working in the garden in the evenings”, says Emelie Forsberg.

Terra Scout is the perfect headlamp for hiking adventures with a map and compass, for dog walks in the evening, or for cosy moments in the tent when darkness falls. Terra Scout will be available in three different models with different light output and features. Recommended retail price from EUR 39,99.

TERRA DRY BAGS – LESS COLOURS – MORE SUSTAINABLE

Terra dry bags are made of lightweight, durable and 100% recycled PET-material. To make them as sustainable as possible, the colouring process has been reduced to a minimum, with an outlined logotype as the only colour element. The result is a non-dyed, rugged, waterproof and high-quality dry bag you can rely on.

Whether you are going camping, kayaking, or sailing, these dry bags will protect your gear and they will keep our outdoors clean for future adventures. Terra Dry bags are available in five different models, from 3L up to 36L. Recommended retail price from EUR 18,00.

More products in the Terra serie will be launched in Spring 2023.
