Run for All: Join us for our most sustainable event yet

Our Yorkshire Dales Festival, a day of walks and runs in one of the UK’s most gorgeous settings, is coming up on Sunday 21st August.

We are proud to announce that this is set to be our most sustainable event yet. We will be trying out innovative ways to avoid waste and become a more eco-friendly organisation.

What does this mean for entrants?

Instead of handing out bottles at water stations, we are asking participants to bring their own mug or water bottle to fill up at the checkpoints along the route.

We also won’t be having individual goody bags. Instead, finishers will find plenty of snacks and goodies laid out on tables at the finish line.

We will be minimising our use of cable ties. Where possible, we will put up flags to show participants where to go rather than using cable ties on signs. All race numbers will also be made from fully recycled materials.

These actions will all help to minimise unnecessary waste on event day.

Why are we taking steps to minimise our environmental impact?

Creating events where people can get active in a fun, supportive environment, and raise money for charity, is our main focus.

However, we would never want to do that at the expense of the environment. It’s vital that we make sure our events are as eco-friendly as possible, and we are always open to more ideas for make our events more sustainable.
