You asked, and we delivered! We are pleased to announce that finisher t-shirts will now be an optional extra at our events in 2023. This is something many of our runners have suggested to us, and we agree that it’s an important way that we can become both more sustainable and more affordable.

Many of our runners let us know that they already have enough t-shirts. Others are concerned about their environmental impact, and some want the option to forgo the t-shirt in exchange for a cheaper entry to the event. These are all fair points, and we appreciate that you shared them with us – we listened!

How are we changing our finisher t-shirts?

From now on, each event will have a base price. This gets you entry to the event, as well as a medal and plenty of snacks. The only difference is that your finisher t-shirt will no longer be included by default.

Our base price is cheaper than entry with a t-shirt. This is great news for runners who want to save money and/or don’t feel like they need a t-shirt.

But what if you do want a t-shirt to remember your achievement? Well, that’s perfectly fine too. We will still have t-shirts available for all our events – they’ll now just cost a little extra on top of your base price.

What are the benefits of doing t-shirts in this way?

• We’re reducing our waste. As have to order our t-shirts long before event day, we inevitably end up with lots of spares. While we’re working at reducing waste, whatever we have left, we will give to charity KitAid so the t-shirts go to people who need them.
• It’s better for the environment. From materials to production to shipping, creating t-shirts has an impact on our planet and we want to reduce our contribution to that.
• It means savings for YOU. We understand that the cost of living is rising and we want to minimise aspects of our events that make it more expensive to enter. By doing what we can to keep entries affordable we aim to make our events as accessible and inclusive as we can.
• You get a choice. Of course, many runners love getting a t-shirt after their run so we wouldn’t want to take that option away from people!

Will all 2023 events have t-shirts as an optional extra?

We have already ordered t-shirts for our 2022 events, as well as the 2023 events which are already open for entry. If you enter any of the below 2023 runs, you will get a t-shirt by default.

The rest of our events will have t-shirts available as an optional extra.
