Outdoor and Social 2025 was a great success

Outdoor and Social is designed to help retail staff better understand the equipment they sell, ensuring they have the technical knowledge to guide customers toward the right gear for their adventures

Outdoor and Social 2025 proved to be a huge success, earning praise from attending brands, retailers and industry leaders.

The three-day outdoor learning experience, held at Newfold Farm, Edale, in the Peak District, kicked off on March 11, 2025. Building on the momentum of its successful debut last year, the event continues to expand, welcoming 86 brands, 28 retailers, and over 150 staff for an immersive training experience.

A Unique Learning Opportunity

Outdoor and Social is designed to help retail staff better understand the equipment they sell, ensuring they have the technical knowledge to guide customers toward the right gear for their adventures. Participants work toward a recognized certification and receive a progression report tracking their completed courses.

This year, attendees also had access to first aid training, provided by The Soteria Group Ltd, further enhancing their outdoor skills.

The event remains completely free for retail staff, with food and accommodation provided. For those looking to fully embrace the outdoor experience, camping was available, adding another dimension to the training.

An Engaging and Inspiring Atmosphere

Beyond the hands-on learning, the event fostered a vibrant community, with evening events, guest speakers, and networking opportunities in the main marquee.

Notable speakers included:

  • Andrew Denton (OIA CEO)
  • Linzi Bell
  • Jez Benton (CEO of Canvas)
  • Deon Barret (The True North Project)
  • Phil Banfield (VentureField)
  • Rebecca Dawson (Every Body Outdoors)
  • Sabrina Pace-Humphreys (Black Trail Runners)

What Attendees Had to Say

“It’s a great event. Now in its second year, and with even more people involved, I think year three will be even bigger. There’s fantastic support and engagement here.”
— Andy Wilson, National Account Manager for Ledlenser UK

“The event has been wonderful. All the retailers have been really excited about our new products, and the manufacturers have been great to talk to. ‘Outdoor and social’ has truly been the theme of this event.”
— Nicole Walbran, Camping Sales Manager for Jetboil

“I love the event! Last year was great despite the rain, and it’s even better this year with the sunshine. It feels bigger, and it’s great to see more brands involved. I’d love to see even more retailers put their trust in it and send more staff.”
— Hannah Campbell, Account Manager for Montane

“Everyone has been really receptive. Since it’s our first year here, we weren’t sure what to expect, but attendees have been incredibly engaged. Even retailers that don’t currently sell our full range are interested in our sustainability efforts and partnerships.”
— Dave Sewell, Training & Projects Coordinator for Craghoppers

“This is my first time at Outdoor and Social, but our brand attended last year. It’s incredible to see so many brands in one place. The event is much busier than I expected, and the atmosphere is fantastic.”
— Sidonie Graham, Sales, Service & Marketing Specialist for Bigstone (Black Diamond & Nemo Equipment)

“In its second year, the event feels significantly bigger. Just driving in, I couldn’t find a parking space! There are more people, bigger brands, and a wider selection of staff. It’s clear Outdoor and Social is growing into something truly special.”
— Andrew Denton, OIA CEO

Looking Ahead

With such positive feedback and increasing attendance, Outdoor and Social is set to continue its upward trajectory, providing an invaluable platform for brands, retailers, and outdoor enthusiasts alike. The event’s third edition in 2026 promises to be even bigger and better.
