LIMELIGHT SPORTS GROUP REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TOWARDS A BETTER FUTURE WITH THE RELEASE OF ITS SUSTAINABILITY REPORT

LimeLight Sports, the marketing group that unlocks the power of participation, has today published its first, annual Sustainability Report. This follows on from the commitment made by LimeLight in January 2021 with the launch of their Sustainability Manifesto to operate in a way that is better for people and the planet.

‘Doing the right thing’ is one of LimeLight’s guiding principles and was a key driver in the decision to equally address all three pillars of sustainability: social, environmental and economic – an industry first.

The purpose of the Sustainability Report is to hold LimeLight to account. Whilst 2021 was focussed on auditing LimeLight’s operations to drive future improvements, significant progress was made including:

  • Contracting A Greener Festival Ltd to undertake LimeLight Sports Group’s core business carbon analysis
  • Development of a sustainability toolkit to educate and engage the wider LimeLight team so it is embedded into everyone’s thinking, not just an after-thought
  • Creation of a procurement toolkit to follow best practices
  • Launch of LimeLight’s Active World Fund with Laureus Sport for Good to benefit communities through sport
  • Practices put in place to better understand LimeLight’s audience and staff, creating an environment that is inclusive and accessible to all.

The positive steps made during 2021, despite all the challenges with Covid, has led to LimeLight being more ambitious regarding sustainability, with clear commitments made for 2022 including:

  • Being carbon neutral as a business by the end of 2022
  • Undertaking CO2 analysis across all LimeLight Sports Club campaigns with a view to them being carbon neutral by 2023
  • Every LimeLight Sports Club campaign will have a social impact strategy that is publicly communicated
  • The distribution of the Active World Fund
  • The publication of an updated Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy with a focus on attracting a more diverse team
  • A commitment to provide 90hrs learning and development time throughout the year for all employees

Craig Dews, LimeLight Sports Group CEO, said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the inequalities that exist within society, whilst COP 26 further reinforced the need to act now against climate change. LimeLight Sports Group is committed to actively creating positive change. Over the past year we have invested in measuring, analysing and developing important partnerships, whilst also launching new initiatives, with the aim of reducing our negative impact on the environment and ensuring that our active world is for everyone. This first annual report captures the initial steps that we have taken since the launch of our sustainability manifesto in 2021.”
