Behind the scenes of ‘The Starting Line’ Film
LimeLight Sports Club Junior Producer, Shameek Farrell, shares the story behind the incredible documentary film, The Starting Line, which tells the inspiring stories of runners that took to the Hackney Half start line in May 2022.
“For many, running represents so much more than just putting one foot in front of the other. Every runner has a story for why they run, and we wanted to delve deeper into the inspirations behind why people lace up and run, specifically the Hackney Half. The Starting Line film gives valuable insight and inspiration and solidifies the role running plays in people’s lives, mentally and physically.
We had the privilege of following Neshan Ilangaratne, Lucinda Courtiour and Madi Bracken-Patterson as they did their final preparations for the Hackney Half. Although their journeys differed, the one common theme that transpired was that through adversity, movement was the best therapy to help overcome what stood in front of them. Running gave clarity, focus, drive and structure when they needed it the most, and that process is something that everyone can relate to at some point in life.
Race day is a celebration of you, and the hardest part is making it to the start line. The Starting Line film encapsulates the beauty of running, Hackney and the vibes it gives throughout the day, and hopefully it’ll inspire more people to run, continue to run and share their stories too.”
