GOODGYM’S NEW CHAIR OF TRUSTEES: Jane Ashcroft joins GoodGym

We’re excited to announce a new addition to our team who shares our passion for creating happier, healthier, and better-connected cities.

Welcome our new Chair, Jane Ashcroft CBE, a passionate advocate for the rights of older people and a key figure in the social care sector.

Jane comes with extensive experience and a proven track record of fostering positive social change. As the former Chief Executive of Anchor, England’s largest care and housing provider for older people, she has a great exterpience of steering organisational growth.

Jane has always focused on advocating for the rights of older people, working for organisations including Bromford Housing Group, Care First, The Silver Line and The National Housing Federation.

In 2014, she played a pivotal role in a review of the care sector chaired by Paul Burstow MP, showcasing her dedication to creating positive change in the lives of older people. Her deep-rooted understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the sector makes her a perfect fit for the role of Chair of Trustees at GoodGym.

Jane said:

Throughout my life, I’ve witnessed the profound benefits of running and cycling for my own well-being, while also working tirelessly to overcome isolation and loneliness in older people. Every day, GoodGymers across the UK demonstrate the transformative power of regular exercise and assisting older and community groups. I am excited to work with the team to expand our reach to more GoodGymers, older individuals, and community groups.”

Jane officially started her role on 3rd November 2023 and succeeds Paul Miller who has been our Chair of Trustees for 8 years supporting our growth from less than 10 areas in 2015 to covering most major cities and towns across the UK today.
