COROS Named the Official GPS Watch Partner of the University of Birmingham Athletics

University of Birmingham Coaching Staff will utilize COROS Training Hub to drive athlete performance

COROS Wearables, makers of innovative performance GPS Watches and the University of Birmingham announced last month that COROS will be the official GPS Watch partner of the University of Birmingham Athletics programme.

In addition, the programme’s coaching staff will utilize the COROS Training Hub’s coaching software to manage athlete workouts and performance.

“We are thrilled to work with the University of Birmingham. Their Athletics program has produced elite athletes representing their country at major international events. Through working with Coach Gunn, Coach Miller, and Coach Sheldon, this partnership will solidify COROS as the go-to product for college-aged athletes looking to improve. We look forward to not only watching their elites progress but also the University’s 100+ club athletes looking to explore perfection.” Said, Derek Dalzell, Sports Science Product Manager at COROS.

Over the past several seasons, Birmingham has produced several notable accomplishments from members of its programme. 2022 saw Sabrina Sinha earn the bronze medal in the 1500 British Senior Championships, Tom Keen ran a 3:37:70 in the 1500m, and Tom Bridger & Will Barnicoat qualified for the Junior World Championship team. 2021 was also successful as Oliver Dustin qualified for the Olympics in the 800m and Isobel Boffrey was crowned the 800m European U23 Champion. As the new season kicks off, Birmingham welcomes Jonathan Davies (13:23 5k), Axel Van Christiensen (European U20 XC Champion), and Abbie Ives (Junior World Champion team selection).

“I’m super excited for us as a team to be partnering with COROS over these next few years as we support our student-athletes in making new ground, and challenging for further national medals, records and international honours. With only 2 years until the Paris Olympic Games, with several of our current team harbouring realistic goals of appearing there, we feel partnering with COROS which has aligned values and targets is a no-brainer. The technology provided will be integral to how we work as a coaching team alongside Lead Physiologist, David Sheldon. Providing us with world-class data and feedback on athlete programmes will make planning, individualisation, and intervention even stronger. We are sure this will give us a further edge when athletes stand on the start line” said Dean Miller, Head Coach of Endurance.

University of Birmingham athletes will be using the award-winning COROS PACE 2 along with the COROS POD which provides advanced running metrics, as they chase personal bests all year long.
