COROS celebrates Kilian Jornet’s record breaking feat at UTMB

COROS Wearables saw its team of pro athletes reach the podium nine times during the UTMB race week in Chamonix, France. The achievements of COROS sponsored athletes were led by Kilian Jornet’s fourth win and course record in the 171km UTMB race.

Kilian Jornet joined the COROS ambassador roster in March 2022. He selected the COROS APEX Pro as a primary GPS watch. The COROS APEX Pro features include auto ascent/descent detection, SpO2 (Pulse Oximeter) sensor with specially designed Altitude mode, Trail Running Mode, Global Topographic Off-line Maps, Sapphire Glass, and more.

“Mont Blanc and the UTMB races are not to be taken lightly, and many runners have entered their races in peak condition, only to have the race not go in their favour,” said COROS Director of Global Sales and Marketing, Dan Suher.

“To witness so many COROS athletes, win, break records, finish on the podium or in the top 10, or finish first from their respective nations is a feat we do not take for granted.

“A week like this is something COROS has been working toward for the last four plus years, and now we look ahead to even more amazing accomplishments in the future, for the brand, for our elite athletes and for all COROS users around the world.”

While Jornet’s race captured the headlines, his was just one of several fascinating performances throughout the week. In fact, just 5 minutes behind Jornet, also breaking the incredible 20-hour barrier, was French athlete Mathieu Blanchard, who followed up his third place finish in 2021 with a runner-up finish this year.

In addition to the 1-2 finish in the 171km event, COROS also earned 1-2 finishes from Frenchman Ludovic Pommeret and Ecuadorian Joaquín López in the mountainous 145km TDS, and from the Spaniards Manuel Merillas and Antonio Martínez Pérez in the 55km OCC.

COROS also witnessed a runner-up finish in the UTMB from Canada’s Marianne Hogan and in the 100km CCC from Nepalese runner Sunmaya Budha. Spain’s Nicolás Molina got the party started for the brand, taking victory in the 15km YCC race on Tuesday, August 23.
