The Bridge is Back: Iconic Menai Suspension Bridge Rejoins Jones o Gymru Anglesey Half Marathon & 10k for 2025
Exciting news for runners and spectators alike: the 2025 Jones o Gymru Anglesey Half Marathon & 10k is just over 12 weeks away, and for the first time in three years, the iconic suspension bridge is back in the race route!
Now in its 14th year, this much-loved event has historically started at the famous Menai Suspension Bridge, attracting hundreds of runners to the stunning starting line. However, since October 2022, essential maintenance work temporarily removed the bridge from the course. With the completion of these works, event organisers Always Aim High Events are thrilled to announce its triumphant return.
In 2025, the start and finish lines will remain at Wood Street in Menai Bridge, a move that proved popular last year. The restored route now includes two crossings of the suspension bridge, offering participants not just one, but two opportunities to enjoy its breathtaking views.
Flanked by the dramatic landscapes of North Wales’ Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and the picturesque Menai Straits, the Jones o Gymru Anglesey Half Marathon & 10k is renowned for its stunning scenery and unique charm. It’s no wonder that runners from across the UK flock to Anglesey year after year to experience this special event.
From seasoned runners chasing a personal best to first-timers and fundraisers, the event’s undulating course is the perfect challenge for all abilities. It also serves as an ideal mid-point for marathon preparation, offering an early-season opportunity to test your training.
Families won’t be left out either, with the Dragons Dash Kids Race, a 1.2-mile event for children as young as five, ensuring there’s truly something for everyone to enjoy.
Managing Director Nigel Kendrick shared his excitement, saying: “We are absolutely thrilled to have the iconic bridge back at the heart of the event. This isn’t just fantastic news for us and the race itself, but also a wonderful boost for the town of Menai Bridge and the wider community.”
The 2025 event is also proud to support Alder Hey Children’s Charity, which provides care for 450,000 young patients annually, including over 3,257 children from North Wales. Participants can fundraise to help this incredible organisation continue its life-changing work. Simply tick the fundraising box when registering, with no minimum amount required. Those who raise over £100 will receive a free running shirt as a thank-you gift.
With entries now open and spots filling quickly, now is the time to secure your place in this unforgettable event.
