RIA Member – Abbott World Marathon Majors (AbbottWMM)
Abbott World Marathon Majors (AbbottWMM) was founded in 2006 by the organisations behind the Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York City Marathons. Tokyo Joined the Majors in 2013 and Sydney was welcomed in 2024.
AbbottWMM strives to inspire the world through the power of the marathon.
We create, build and support opportunities for all to discover that power through our seven incredible races, our Age Group World Rankings and Championships, and our virtual running community, the Global Run Club.
We crown elite champions each year in our open and wheelchair divisions, celebrating the very best marathon runners on the planet.
We also celebrate every runner on their journey to complete the Majors. Runners finishing our original six marathons: Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin Chicago and New York City, receive the Six Star Medal.
With the addition of Sydney in 2024 and ongoing candidacies of Cape Town and Shanghai, we are also on our way to becoming a family of nine, and will be creating the Nine Star Medal as the second milestone for the community to aspire to.
