La Sportiva: Hot running gear coming this Spring!
An established force in the European mountain running world, La Sportiva’s running clothing collection reflects its acclaimed footwear range. Whether it’s muddy and technical ground, uphill running on hard terrain or multi-day ultras, each challenge has a specific product.
La Sportiva has been an official bluesign® system partner since 2012, certifying that its textile supply chain complies with bluesign’s internationally recognised environmental and social criteria. The company also abides by the Global Recycled Standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions.
Spring 2025 highlights include the new Wave T Shirt (£65), a high-performance race design combining two different types of mesh to give excellent breathability while keeping weight to a minimum. The Raglan sleeve construction allows extra shoulder mobility, and flatlock seams give chafe-free comfort. The 100% recycled polyester mesh fabric is treated with Polygiene® for anti-bacterial and anti-odour performance, and there are reflective details for low light visibility.
Ultra running demands clothing that essentially disappears; it does its job without you noticing. That’s what the Ultra Distance Shorts (£100) are designed to do; unobtrusively enhance performance through comfort, breathability and support. The waistband features multiple pockets for storage – gels, keys etc – while the built-in stretch tight shorts offer that long-distance support. 90% of the fabric is recycled polyester, with the remaining 10% being Elastane for stretch. Available in men’s and women’s.
Winter or summer, La Sportiva’s Triumph legwear covers it all. Made using 80% recycled nylon fabric, with 20% Elastane for stretch, this collection of men’s and women’s long tights, 3/4 tights and shorts is designed and shaped to offer the least resistance while running. There are adjustable stretch waists, mesh side pockets and zipped back pockets, plus stretch sidebands. Triumph Tight Short (£75), Triumph Tight 3/4 (£85).
La Sportiva’s Prodigio shoe (£135, launched last year) introduced XFlow foam, developed for better cushioning and energy return over longer distances. For 2025 the Prodigio Pro (£170) arrives and, as the name suggests, this is a shoe is for ultra and trail runners looking to achieve their fastest results. The new XFlow Speed midsole gives maximum rebound and shock absorption, while the pronounced rocker provides a smooth roll and toe-off. The upper uses Power Wire Technology, a TPU fused-yarn development that allows the upper to snugly encase and secure the foot, giving extra precision. A stretch knit lining improves fit around the ankle and keeps debris out. For extra confidence on difficult traverses, the Rubber Metatarsal Protection side panels amplify stability and protect the mid-foot. And underfoot, the versatile all-terrain sole uses Frixion White rubber, La Sportiva’s super-sticky compound. Available in men’s and women’s.
La Sportiva’s running vests are headed up by the Ultra Trail Vest 10 (£140) a stretchy and ergonomic design created to minimise the need to stop. The Ultra Trail features quick-access stretch front pockets and two zipped pockets, plus front hydration pockets with two 500ml Hydrapak Soft Flasks included. Soft pads on the inside vest avoid friction on the ribs. At the rear there’s a main storage pocket with zip opening and a horizontal space for quick access and pole storage. Alternatively, the Quiver (£26.50) attaches for fast, stable pole access. There’s an integral whistle plus reflective details for low light visibility; sizes are S, M and L. The Trail Vest 5 (£130) takes the concept to a minimalist level for shorter runs or more settled conditions with similar features but lighter in weight and with less capacity.
