A.S.O UK: TENS OF THOUSANDS BRAVE THE COLD FOR THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY CANCER RESEARCH UK LONDON WINTER RUN
The streets of the capital came alive on Sunday 23rd February as tens of thousands of participants took on the 10th anniversary edition of the 2025 Cancer Research UK London Winter Run, braving the winter chill in support of life-saving research.
This year’s event saw an incredible 25,000 of participants take on the 10km course through central London, starting at Trafalgar Square and passing some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The National Gallery, St Paul’s Cathedral, Nelson’s Column, and The Strand. With snow zones, live music, and the much-loved polar bear hugs at the finish line, the event once again delivered an unforgettable winter running experience.
The 2025 edition of the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run has been a record breaking year for fundraising, with more than £850,000 raised so far of the £1million target. Since its inception, the event has raised nearly £7million for Cancer Research UK, support their work to reduce the impact of cancer on people’s day-to-day lives.
Organisers A.S.O UK’s CEO Andrew Smith said: “We’ve just delivered the Cancer Research UK’s London Winter Run’s largest ever event, with record breaking numbers of participants, spectators and fundraising, and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate 10 incredible years. The energy, the support of Cancer Research UK, and the sheer determination of every participant made this a truly unforgettable day. Over the last decade, this event has united more than a 100,000 runners of all abilities and helped people stay active in the colder winter months. We’re thrilled to celebrate this landmark year and already can’t wait for next year.”
Hoka athletes Kristian Jones and Emma Pallant-Browne were the first to cross the finish line in a time of 29:22 and 34:32, with thousands of others set their own personal bests, proving that the cold weather was no match for the dedication of those taking part.
With the milestone edition now complete, entries for next year’s event, set for Sunday 15th February 2026, are open to the public. Find out more at www.londonwinterrun.co.uk
