Event listings site findarace.com open for business in the USA
After launching its US site in the summer of 2023 as a closed platform, findarace.com is now open to all race directors to promote their events to an audience of runners, cyclists and triathletes.
According to findarace.com, it has already gained traction in the US, with monthly users reportedly growing from zero to 450K in 18 months.
The USA is the company’s first market outside of the UK. In the US, findarace.com operates as a traditional listing site. For example, someone will search online, refine their search on findarace.com and discover an event before being connected to the event website to book.
In its home market of the UK findarace.com operates as a marketplace, versus as a listing site in the US. In neither market, is it a registration platform.
In the US, the company works alongside the likes of Race Roster and RunSignup to capture interest from people searching online – the ’10k near me-ers’. The platform then aims to convert these into participants by driving them to an event’s registration provider to make a booking.
As such, findarace.com is a marketing channel, to go alongside the likes of PPC, social media, email and flyers at a local running store. It argues that the advantages over those channels are the size and intent of its audience. Events on findarace.com are reportedly seen by millions of people actively searching for events.
The company adds that… ‘By capturing the intent at the very top of the funnel, and converting it into an event booking, we aim to grow participation numbers in events across the board.
‘The difference between being interested in doing a running event and actually signing up can often be down to not finding the right event. Too soon, too far away, too hilly, too flat. Everyone’s criteria is different and what we offer is choice. We’re able to match the individual with the event. Then it’s over to the event organizer to do what they do best: deliver an amazing race day experience.
‘In this way, we see our competition being not other listing sites, but other experiences: live music, football games, and any other way people choose to spend to spend their spare time if not running, cycling or swimming.’
