RECORD NUMBERS SIGN UP FOR 2024 BAXTERS LOCH NESS MARATHON
Over 9,000 runners will line up across all distances
The organisers of the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running are thrilled to announce a record-breaking number of entries for this year’s event. With 2,300 runners already registered for the full marathon. The total number of participants across all distances is expected to exceed 9,000, a testament to the event’s growing popularity and global appeal.
Renowned for its scenic route along the shores of Loch Ness, Baxters Loch Ness Marathon attracts participants from around the world. This year’s record-breaking numbers underscore the marathon’s reputation as one of the most iconic and challenging races on the international running calendar.
While the marathon has already seen unprecedented registration numbers, there’s still time to be part of this incredible event. Entries remain open for the Marathon, River Ness 10K and the River Ness 5K, providing an excellent opportunity for runners of all levels to experience the excitement of race day in the stunning Scottish Highlands.
On Sunday, the Loch Ness Marathon will take place, featuring a spectacular 26.2-mile point-to-point route alongside the world-famous Loch Ness. The race begins on the high ground above Fort Augustus and winds through breathtaking Highland scenery along the southeastern shore of Loch Ness, past Inverness Castle and finishes alongside the picturesque banks of the River Ness in Inverness.
While the star of the show is the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon, the event offers a distance to suit all runners with the Baxters River Ness 10K, Baxters River Ness 5K and even a Wee Nessie kids race.
Renowned for its fast, flat course, the Baxters River Ness 10K and Corporate Challenge often sees runners achieve personal bests as they run through the historic city of Inverness and along the scenic banks of the River Ness. For those interested in the Corporate Challenge, the event offers teams of 4 to 6 colleagues the chance to unite for a good cause amidst the stunning surroundings.
For those seeking a shorter distance while still enjoying the beautiful scenery, the Baxters River Ness 5K is the perfect option. Open to runners of all ages and abilities, the 5K follows a flat route along the picturesque River Ness, finishing alongside other races at Bught Park, Inverness. Additionally, the Wee Nessie race, designed for children aged 5 and under, features a short circular route within the safety of Bught Park.
