Seb vs Iceland!

Children with Cancer UK is one of the leading fundraisers for research into childhood cancers and their treatments. Seb, 24, joined Children with Cancer UK in March 2023, but he has been fundraising for the charity since he was 12 years old. He is driven to do so in honour of his younger sister Libby who was diagnosed with a brain tumour at just 11 weeks old.

He has completed marathons and a number of Ironman events, in September 2024, he plans to attempt his biggest and toughest challenge yet; something that very few people have ever achieved. Seb will be running around the Icelandic Ring Road – a national highway that circles the entire country – seeing him cover a distance of 1320km (820+ miles) in just over two weeks. Seb aims to raise awareness and vital funds to support children and young people affected by cancer.

“Libby is the most important person in my life. I was just five years old when she was diagnosed, and we were told she needed a couple of immediate, serious operations with no guarantee she would survive. Thankfully, she made it through – but she has been forever changed by cancer – socially, emotionally, and academically. Had it not been for the help of charities like Children with Cancer UK, my family would have really struggled. They helped cover the costs of everything; the hotels we stayed in, the kids clubs my brother and I attended while my parents were with Libby, as well as providing emotional support and therapy for us all. So I knew I had to give something back and started raising money as soon as I was old enough.”

This September, Seb plans to not only run around the Icelandic Ring Road and cover this incredible distance; he is also looking to set a World Record by completing it in the fastest time ever – a fortnight – meaning he needs to run two marathons every day for two weeks.

But he can’t do it alone, and we need your help to complete this amazing project. Seb needs donations to cover the costs of flights, van hire, his kit, sustenance, and a myriad of other items.

With your support today, you’ll help Children with Cancer UK fund vital life-saving childhood cancer research and support our wellbeing activities. Join Seb in making a difference and ensuring no family faces childhood cancer alone.
