Running Industry Alliance announced as Conference Supporter for ASEC
Running Industry Alliance (RIA) has been announced as Conference Supporter for The Adventure Sports Events Conference (ASEC).
ASEC, referred to as “the only conference for adventure sports events organisers”, takes place in association with the Kendal Mountain Festival on Friday 17th November 2023 at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal, Cumbria.
Hosted by Shane Ohly of Ourea Events and James Thurlow of Open Tracking, ASEC is aimed specifically at those who organise adventure sports events and will provide an opportunity to hear some highly regarded speakers whilst networking with other event organisers and industry professionals across the day.
The definition of Adventure Sports events is more about where the event is held and the challenges it presents rather than the type of event taking place, and one of the aims of the conference is to inform and challenge around this specific focus area. ASEC pulls together a range of exceptional speakers relevant to those who put on Adventure Sports events, with a goal of sharing good practice examples and stories amongst the community of Adventure Sports events organisers.
Ourea Events and Open Tracking are Foundation Members of RIA, whilst ASEC is an Alliance Partner. Further RIA Members sharing their expertise at the conference include Nick Tuppen from Threshold Sports, and both Shane and James will be speaking as well as lead the expert panel discussion.
A limited number of tickets are available for ASEC and cost £85 including refreshments and lunch. Please go to www.asec.org.uk/tickets to purchase a ticket.
Co-Lead of RIA Rebecca Richardson will be attending ASEC, which is part of the Kendal Mountain Festival Weekend that will see many RIA Members gather in Kendal.
Shane and James will also be attending RIA’s annual member-only conference #TRC23 which takes place from 10th to 12thDecember 2023 at Loughborough University, with Shane presenting an Events Industry update on “Protect Duty” now to be known as “Martyn’s Law”.
The content of TRC23 covers areas of interest for all verticals in the running industry, including The Market Place; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB); Health and Wellbeing; Research, Data and Insights; Sustainability and Future.
RIA Co-Leads Rebecca Richardson and Jonathan Midwood said: “RIA is built on a foundation of industry collaboration, and we are proud to be supporting ASEC. The work that Shane and James do with ASEC is very important for the adventure sports events industry, we want to actively support the conference and are looking forward to being in Kendal this November.”
Shane Ohly and James Thurlow commented: “We are delighted that RIA supports ASEC, and we are looking forward to seeing fellow RIA members who are involved in the organisation of adventure sports events at ASEC. We hope that delegates will make a weekend of it, staying in Kendal for the internationally renowned Kendal Mountain Festival and maybe even taking part in the adidas TERREX Kendal 10K Trail Run on Saturday morning.”
